Your team doesn’t owe you trust simply by virtue of you being their manager. They owe you respect, as we all owe each other, but trust is something you have to earn. But to be the most effective leader of a team that you can be, you absolutely 100% need their trust. You need them to feel comfortable disclosing risks and problems as early as possible, and they will only do that if they know you will address those things appropriately.
