“Remote work has the potential to open up opportunities. That’s the argument, and that’s true,” says Jed Kolko, chief economist at Indeed. “But there are a whole bunch of buts.” One is that more than 60% of jobs can’t be done from home, and those who tend to work in remote-friendly fields are more likely to be White and Asian, higher paid, and more educated.
